Do you have experience working with the Ontario Building Code, and Municipal and Provincial Acts? Do you have a strong attention to detail and thrive on ensuring regulations and standards are adhered to? The County of Prince Edward is looking to fill the position of Building Inspector – Level 2.

Reporting to the Chief Building Official, this position will ensure the construction, alterations, plumbing, HVAC, and on-site sewage of all houses, large buildings and complex buildings is in accordance with all County By-Laws, the Building Code Act, the Ontario Building Code and other relevant acts, legislation or regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Completed post-secondary in a related field such as Architectural Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Has obtained a minimum level certification of qualifications in House, HVAC House, Plumbing House, Septic House, Small Building, Plumbing All Buildings, Building Services, Building Structural, On-Site Sewage Systems, Large buildings, Complex Buildings, House and General Legal, from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
• CBCO certification through the Ontario Building Officials Association is considered an asset.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in enforcement of the Ontario Building Code.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Experience working with various By-Laws, the Ontario Building Code, and Provincial and Municipal Acts.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in the use of computers, with knowledge related to Microsoft Office Software.
• Satisfactory Criminal Background Check.
• Valid “G” Driver’s License in good standing.

The current rate of pay for this full-time position is $32.52 to $34.09 per hour, as per Band 12 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement.
