DIRECTOR – ENGINEERING, PARKS AND ENVIRONMENT

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to the strategic direction and overall management and growth of the City and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with members of the Senior Leadership Team, City employees, Mayor and Council, external agencies, local stakeholders and the public. In this position you will be accountable for the overall leadership and management of the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department. This includes policy formulation, planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, administration, regulation and approval of the majority of public infrastructure and natural assets for the City including streets, water, sewer, drainage, parks, natural areas, foreshore, fleet, solid waste management and plazas.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ progressive related management and administrative experience within a municipal or regional government setting with work of comparable operational complexity. You bring an understanding of managing a portfolio in a way that balances cost efficiencies with meeting the diverse needs of a variety of stakeholders. You will bring a collaborative, progressive and innovative approach to problem solving and the key to success will be the ability to form partnerships with key stakeholders, internal and external, with a high degree of tact, diplomacy, political sensitivity and sensitivity to community issues.
