Position Overview: The Protective Services Manager is a critical leadership position in our organization that requires a broad combination of strategic leadership and active involvement in the day to day operations of the department. It is the critical responsibility of the Protective Services Manager to ensure that the activities of Emergency Management are aligned with the corporate and departmental vision, goals, and objectives as well the Town’s culture and values. Additionally, the Protective Services Manager will oversee the Town’s contracts within the realm of public safety, such as the contract with the RCMP, and provides direction and oversight to the Supervisor of Bylaw Services.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with individuals from disciplines across the organization. Your efforts will secure the safety of our citizens and visitors through a variety programs and services in Emergency Management and Protective Services.

Attributes: We are looking for a strong leader and strategic thinker with the demonstrated ability to translate organizational, political, and community needs into operational direction. You have the ability to communicate honestly and directly, build relationships and inspire trust with Bylaw staff, RCMP staff, elected officials, managers and the diverse stakeholders to whom you will provide ongoing partnership, support, direction and leadership. You have a genuine interest and talent for leading, mentoring, and motivating others and can create an environment that empowers employees to collaborate, generate, and implement new ideas and creative solutions. You will need to transition effectively between detailed work and leadership. In conjunction with your team, you are willing to improve existing programs or develop new ones that ensure the overall team success and alignment with corporate and community goals and approved budgets. To be successful in this role, you will need to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an emergency management position as well as thorough knowledge in all aspects of law enforcement, emergency management and municipal government organization.

Compensation: Salary range for this position is $109,436.60 to $115,515.40. Salary commensurate with skills and experience related to the role.
