LEGISLATIVE AND CUSTOMER SERVICES SPECIALIST

Reporting to the Deputy Clerk, the Legislative and Customer Service Specialist provides support to the Clerk's Office. This role is responsible for managing requests including permits, licensing and civil ceremonies, providing administrative Council and Committee support, sustaining an inventory of County By-Laws, supporting municipal elections and ensuring compliance with the legislative requirements of provincial and municipal policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Completed post-secondary education in Public Administration, Political Science, Law or related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Certificate in Parliamentary Procedure and AMCTO designation are considered assets.
- A minimum of two years of related experience in a similar role is required, preferably within a Clerk’s Office.
- Foundational knowledge of regulation and legislation pertaining to the Clerk’s Office (Alcohol and Gaming Commission, Municipal Act, Municipal Elections Act, Planning Act).
- Ability to multi-task, cope with interruptions and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving regular access to confidential data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work as part of a team.
- A strong customer service orientation is required. Conflict management and resolution skills are considered an asset.
- Thorough working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications and office equipment.
- Experience using iCompass and electronic records management systems (previous experience with TOMRMS is an asset).
- Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license and the use of a safe, reliable vehicle.
The current rate of pay for this position is $33.68 to $35.27 per hour, as per Band 9 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement. Compensation also includes a competitive benefit package and membership in OMERS, a defined benefit pension plan.
